Blue crabs, rockfish, largemouth bass and catfish are a few of the many types of fish regularly caught here. Situated along the Potomac River, Leesylvania State Park hosts dozens of fishing tournaments each year, including those specifically for children, the first Saturday each month from April through September, from 9 to 11 a.m.

The park is one of the few public fishing spots along the Potomac in Prince William, providing two large ramps for launching and a T-shaped covered fishing pier. Open sunrise to dusk, year-round. Bait, tackle, poles and other fishing gear are sold seasonally at the marina's park store. Those 16 and older need a fishing license.

The park also hosts a Junior Rangers program for children ages 4 to 12 who are interested in learning about the environment. Held June through August, campers hike, fish and make environmentally oriented crafts.
