• An injured panda in China received treatment at a human hospital this week. The animal, which veterinarians think broke a chest bone in a fight with another panda, had a CT scan, a special X-ray.

• An Arab boy did better than many Jewish kids in a contest on the history of Israel. Rami Wated and a Jewish teammate tied a team of two Jewish boys for first place in Tel Aviv, Israel. "It doesn't matter if you are Jewish or Arab, just as long as you can prepare," said Rami, 12, the only Arab child among the 12 finalists.
