Ingram Scores 37 in Eagles' Overtime Loss

Jamaal Hilliard scored 23 points and Marcus Harley had 22, both career highs, to lead Lafayette to a 93-89 overtime victory over visiting American yesterday.

Sean Knitter added 17 points for Lafayette (8-17, 4-8 Patriot League), Jamaal Douglas scored 11 and Bilal Abdullah added 10. Andre Ingram scored 37 points for American (13-11, 6-6), while Jason Thomas had 18 and Raimonda Petrauskas added 12.

Lafayette led for the entire extra period, but Ingram hit a three-pointer to get American within 91-89 with eight seconds left. Hilliard, who was 11 for 11 from the free throw line, hit two foul shots to seal it.

Hilliard also sank two free throws to put Lafayette up 80-78 with eight seconds left in regulation, but Linas Lekavicius's layup with 2.8 seconds to go sent the game into overtime.

Ingram's three-pointer gave the Eagles a 76-67 lead with 3 minutes 43 seconds left in regulation, but Hilliard's basket and three foul shots, along with a pair from the line from both Abdullah and Jamaal Douglas, tied the score at 76 with 1:50 remaining. Thomas then scored for American, but Knitter made two free throws with 55 seconds left for the game's seventh tie.

NAVY 76, LEHIGH 75: Matt Fannin scored 16 points to lead five Mids in double figures as Navy prevailed over the host Mountain Hawks.

Jose Olivero led Lehigh (13-12, 7-5 Patriot League) with 23 points as the Mountain Hawks suffered their second straight loss.

The Midshipmen (8-17, 4-8) had a one-point lead at halftime and held the Mountain Hawks scoreless for 5:30 in the second half. Lehigh battled back, but after a pair Corey Johnson three-pointers the Mids led by 10 with 2:45 to play.

• SOUTH CAROLINA STATE 56, HOWARD 46: Chris Lee scored a career-high 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs at Burr Gymnasium.

Lee scored 16 points in the second half to help the Bulldogs (15-10, 8-6 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) erase a 25-22 halftime deficit.

Thurman Zimmerman added nine of his 15 points in the second half for the Bulldogs and grabbed 11 rebounds.

South Carolina State has won six of seven, while Howard (5-18, 2-12) dropped its 12th straight. Will Gant led Howard with 19 points.
