• Many major airlines, including Delta, American, US Airways and America West, are offering Labor Day weekend fares. Most require that you buy by Aug. 31. Fares are not dirt cheap ($178 round trip from Reagan National to Boston on US Airways, for example), but are still lower than last-minute fares on even discount airlines (about $247 to Boston on Independence Air, for example).
