Metrorail trains resumed running through the Pentagon station at 12:20 p.m. today, about two hours after traffic was halted for the investigation of a possible hazardous materials problem in the area.
While the Arlington County Fire Department responded to the report and found no problem, a spokesman said, Pentagon police continued to investigate and the station remained closed from 10:08 a.m. until it was reopened.
Metrorail had halted Blue and Yellow line train traffic through the Pentagon station, offloading passengers at the Pentagon City, Arlington Cemetery and L'Enfant Plaza stations. Buses were provided to accommodate passengers around the blockage.
