SLOPES: 31 slopes and trails, a 750-foot vertical drop and a long run of 6,600 feet.

COST: Adults $34 weekdays, $44 Saturdays and holidays, $40 Sundays, $27 any night; ages 6 through 11 $27 weekdays, $33 Saturdays and holidays, $30 Sundays, $20 any night; ages 80 and older free (with ticket); ages 70 to 79 half-price.

SPECIAL NOTE: This 5,000-acre resort has 14 slopes rated for beginners, a half-pipe and 10 tubing chutes. Tubing fees are $14 for adults, $11 for ages 4 to 11 for two-hour sessions..

Directions: From Washington the drive takes about four hours. Take Interstate 495 west to I-270 north. Then take I-70 west to I-76 west (PA Turnpike) to Exit 10-Somerset. Take State Road 31 toward Bakersfield and follow signs to Seven Springs Resort.
