The cost of parking at BWI's hourly garages will return to the usual rates Jan. 15. The maximum daily rate had been discounted by $10 for two months during the holiday season. Rates will return to a daily maximum of $30, though the first hour will remain free . . . Newark Liberty International has been approved for nearly $280 million in airport improvements to Terminal B, including new ticketing areas, the expansion of security checkpoints and a new domestic baggage claim area . . . The Strategic Rail Authority in London has plans to discontinue the Gatwick Express, the dedicated express train connecting Gatwick Airport to London -- thus forcing airport passengers to rely instead on local commuter trains. Airport authorities are opposed to the plan.
