The major U.S. stocks indexes rose last week as crude oil futures fell for five straight days.
The Dow Jones industrial average closed Friday at 10,461.34, up 0.5 percent for the week. The Standard & Poor's 500-stock index finished the week at 1,181.20 , a gain of 0.7 percent. The Nasdaq Stock Market composite closed at 1,999.35, up 0.7 percent.
Stocks in the Washington area edged up. The Washington Post-Bloomberg regional stock index ended the week at 258.86, up .50.
