TIP OF THE WEEK

Thursday, April 21, 2005; Page H07

SPRAY THE NEW LEAVES OF ROSES against black spot disease before spores have a chance to develop. Organic sprays are available. Last year's leaves should be raked clear of roses and bagged. Roses that suffer chronically from the disease should be dug and discarded or moved to a location with better air circulation. Select rose varieties with a high level of black spot resistance.
