This shingled Old Town Colonial may feel old-fashioned, but there's nothing out-of-date about the interior, which is all granite countertops and stainless-steel trim. The menu, with its egg-white omelets and inky espressos, also nods to the here and now -- a fact that the crowd of stylish urban patrons surely appreciates.

Elegantly dressed brunchers and rabble-rousers both head here to get their eats by the gate of the Annapolis City Marina. If you feel like showing off your Sunday best, head to the dining room, where you'll feast on poached salmon and peach cobbler at tables set with linen napkins and floral centerpieces. Or join the jeans-and-sneaks crew outside, where the plastic furniture can easily be hosed down should that Bloody Mary party get a little too hearty.

The District's largest eatery can also lay claim to the biggest brunch in town. The patio, overlooking the Washington Channel, may feel spacious, but it pales in comparison with the main attraction: a cavernous dining room that seats up to 1,200. If the scene -- a motley mix of hungry tourists and locals in the mood to live large -- doesn't amaze you, those super-size spreads of home-style flapjacks, grits and biscuits just might.

How to have your own beach house sans mortgage: Become a regular at this chic marina-front eatery. Its gleaming white interior may make you think you've stumbled upon a photo shoot for Coastal Living, but with extravagant carving stations, top-notch service and hordes of fresh-off-the-yacht types swilling mimosas, it's anything but antiseptic.

This Pirates-of-the-Caribbean-meets-Panama-Jack spot is modeled after a pub in Tortola, home to Blackbeard himself. With the wait staff clad in shorts and margarita-printed shirts, it's not the place for Mother's Day, but the twenty-somethings at the mermaid-carved bar, feasting on crab omelets, clearly don't mind.

In the evening, this spot is summer-intern central, teeming with aspiring politicos looking for love. In comparison, the weekend brunch scene is almost shockingly civilized: The frisky night crawlers are still asleep, and in their place you'll find well-dressed ladies who brunch in a space that's been trussed up to look like the deck of a private cruise ship. The menu is pretty standard (pancakes, eggs) -- all the better to let those showstopping views of the Potomac take center stage.
