• Fifteen bed-and-breakfast inns and cottages in the Point Reyes National Seashore area of Northern California have a "Whales and Wildlife" promotion this winter. Save $250 per person on five nights in the Galapagos Islands. Need to warm up? Fly to South Africa's Johannesburg or Cape Town on South African Airways from any of 13 U.S. cities, including D.C., for $915 round trip; taxes are an extra $209. The fare is good for travel Feb. 1-28; no advance purchase required. Fare to Joannesburg on other airlines is about $1,300 advance purchase and $2,818 for spur-of-the-moment travel; fares to Cape Town start at more than $2,000. Sunday nights are free at the luxe Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan. Arrive Friday, Saturday or Sunday, stay for two to five nights, and get Sunday free; deal is good through March. • The "Orbitz Cruise Bonus Event" offers discounts that include American Express gift cards, gas cards and cabin upgrades. For example, a seven-night Western Caribbean cruise on the Norwegian Sun departing Miami on March 5 is $1,646 per couple for an oceanview cabin, about the same price as the cruise line is charging. Passengers booking through www.orbitz.com also receive a $25 gas card, a $100 AmEx gift card and a cabin upgrade. Book by Feb. 14.

Two-for-one deals are available on select European Windstar Cruises sailings. For example, a seven-day cruise on the Wind Surf departing Lisbon April 24 is $1,695 per person double, plus about $50 in taxes (brochure rate is $3,480). Info: 800-258-SAIL, www.windstarcruises.com.

US Airways has introductory fares for its new nonstop service from Reagan National to Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Detroit and Houston. American is offering sale fares to introduce its new nonstop service between Chicago and Nagoya, Japan. The $509 round-trip fare, plus $90 in taxes, is good from all three Washington area airports. Purchase at www.aa.com by tomorrow for travel April 3-May 31. Other airlines are charging about $715 round trip.


• Funjet Vacations has teamed with United on discounted packages to Cancun. For example, a deal with round-trip nonstop flights from Dulles, four nights at the all-inclusive Barcelo Club Las Perlas and hotel transfers is about $1,511 per couple, for February departures. Priced separately, air starts at $576 and the hotel package for two is about $688. Info: 888-558-6654, www.funjet.com.

• Spend five nights in Australia for about the same price as airfare with a deal from Go-today.com. The package is $1,099 per person double, plus $145 in taxes, and includes round-trip air from Los Angeles and accommodations at the Sydney's Pacific International Hotel. Air alone is about $1,074.
