REMEMBRANCE OF SOLDIERS PAST. Once the sun sets on Nov. 20, 3,500 flames -- one for each fallen Civil War soldier -- will glow at the second annual Illumination Remembrance at the Soldiers' National Cemetery at Gettysburg. Before the lighting, an Abraham Lincoln reenactor will recite the Gettysburg Address at the adjacent Rupp House History Center, while volunteers bring to life selected readings by Theodore O'Hara, whose work appears throughout the cemetery.

Free. Activities 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., lighting 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. About 90 minutes from the Beltway in Gettysburg, Pa. 717-334-0772, Ext. 225, www.friendsofgettysburg.org.
