POP NOTES

Wednesday, December 8, 2004; Page C05

The '80s hair-metal group Motley Crue, which called it quits just five years ago, has announced plans for a world tour beginning in February. The tour, which coincides with the release of a double-CD greatest-hits compilation, stops March 6 at MCI Center. . . . In other reunion news: '80s pop sensations Duran Duran have announced their own world tour starting in January. Tickets for the 40-city "Astronaut" tour's April 8 stop at the Patriot Center go on sale Saturday. . . . Mary Travers, 67, of Peter, Paul & Mary is undergoing chemotherapy for leukemia, her publicist said yesterday. In February the trio released a five-disc greatest-hits box set, "Carry It On." Their spring tour is still expected to proceed as scheduled. . . . Marianne Faithfull has canceled her European tour because of exhaustion, a spokesman said yesterday. The singer, who collapsed last week just before she was to go onstage in Italy, is expected to reschedule the dates for next year.
