LaTonya Blue scored 26 points on 9-of-17 shooting to lead the Cavaliers past Virginia Tech, 70-67, last night at University Hall in Charlottesville.
Blue also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to help Virginia defeat its longtime intrastate, but new ACC, rival.

Agenda Change: The Tar Heels have dropped seven of their past 10 meetings with the Cavaliers, including five straight in Charlottesville. North Carolina will try to end that trend today with its loaded lineup of Rashad McCants, Raymond Felton, Sean May, Jawad Williams and freshman standout Marvin Williams. The Tar Heels average 91.7 points, best in the conference.
Giving It Away: In Thursday's 79-73 loss at Virginia Tech, the Cavaliers committed 22 turnovers, 16 more than their previous game against Clemson. It could get worse.
The Tar Heels lead the ACC in steals, averaging about 11 per game.
The Cavaliers also will need to make their free throws; they missed 7 of 17 attempts Thursday night.

Brenna McGuire (11 points) was the only Virginia player besides Blue to score in double figures. The Cavaliers' leading scorer, Brandi Teamer, who averages 13.6 points, scored five.
The Cavaliers (15-5, 4-2) have won 11 of their last 13 games. The Hokies, under first-year coach Beth Dunkenberger, are 12-6 overall, but 2-4 in conference play.
COLGATE 64, NAVY 53: In Hamilton, N.Y., the Raiders (6-13, 2-4 Patriot League), behind 17 points from Emily Braseth, sent Navy (6-13, 2-4) to its fifth straight loss. Leandra Fuller added 16 points for the Raiders.
Nikki Curtis led Navy with 17 points; Abi Campbell scored 15.
Colgate made 7 of 20 three-point attempts (35 percent).
AMERICAN 56, BUCKNELL 53: Guards Joanna Barnes and Tara Williams scored 16 points apiece to lead the Eagles (8-10, 3-3 Patriot League) in Lewisburg, Pa.
The game was close throughout, with five ties and 10 lead changes.
DEPAUL 85, UAB 52: The No. 17 Blue Demons (16-3, 4-1 Conference USA) won their fifth straight game by racing past the visiting Blazers (5-15, 2-5).
