An April 12 article incorrectly said that President Bush praised Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon for vowing to remove "unauthorized" Jewish settlements, mostly in the Gaza Strip. Bush praised Sharon for his plan to remove all 21 established settlements from Gaza, and for his pledge to remove unauthorized outposts from the West Bank.

Because of incorrect information supplied by the Washington Wizards, the April 12 Sports section misstated the team's "magic number." Any combination of two Wizards victories or New Jersey Nets losses will clinch a playoff spot for the Wizards.

The TV Column in the April 9 Style section incorrectly described Ken Ferree as the chief executive of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. He is the chief operating officer.

A map with an April 3 article on the selection of a new pope incorrectly indicated the percentage of Catholics in two Baltic countries. In Estonia, less than 10 percent of the population is Catholic; in Lithuania, the number is more than 50 percent.

A Feb. 19 article on child sexual abuse by Roman Catholic priests incorrectly said that the peak year for allegations of such abuse was 2001. The peak was in 2002, when more than 3,300 allegations were made. Church authorities have not reported numbers of allegations made in subsequent years.
