Marvin Williams, North Carolina: Tar Heels Coach Roy Williams might have lost recruit J.R. Smith to the NBA draft, but he was able to lure Williams to Chapel Hill. Williams will contend with U-Conn.'s Rudy Gay for national freshman of the year honors. Passing up a chance at being a lottery pick in the draft, Williams is expected to give North Carolina depth in the front court. The 6-foot-9 Williams is athletic and showed a shooting range in high school that extended beyond 15 feet.
