RUNNING
MARK'S RUN: On May 1, the fourth annual Mark's Run will be held at the Landon School in Bethesda. The run is in honor of Mark Ferris, a member of the Landon Class of 1994 who died on Dec. 13, 1999, after a life-long struggle against juvenile diabetes and heart disease. Mark was a beloved brother, son, classmate and friend, and his strength in fighting diabetes taught those around him that life is measured not in years but in character. And Mark's character -- of laughter, kindness, patience, and love -- will be remembered always at the run.
In just three years, Mark's Run has raised more than $375,000 to support juvenile diabetes research and the Landon Scholarship Fund. This year's event, which begins at 8 a.m., consists of a 5-kilometer race and a one-mile fun run through and around Landon's campus in Bethesda. The 5-K race is $20 per runner, the fun run is $10 per participant and all pre-registered participants will receive a t-shirt. You may sign up on-line at www.marksrun.org.
RAIDER RUN 5-K RACE: Stuart High School is holding its eighth annual Raider Run 5-K Race and one-mile fun run/walk on April 23 at 8 a.m. All proceeds benefit Stuart High athletic programs.
