AFRICAN AMERICAN HERITAGE TOUR, 10 a.m. April 30. Historian Sylvia Cooke Martin leads a tour through Howard County depicting the history of blacks in the county. Artifacts and exhibits about Benjamin Banneker, known as the "First African American Man of Science," can be viewed during the tour, which includes visits to the Ellicott City Colored School and the Howard County Center of African American Culture. Southern-style lunch at Nixon's Farm. HILLWOOD MUSEUM AND GARDENS TRIP, for ages 55 and older, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. May 10. A trip to Washington to tour the former estate of philanthropist Marjorie Merriweather Post. Includes lunch in the Hillwood cafe, an exhibition of Russian art and Faberge eggs, and visits to the gardens and gift shop on your own.
