• Dogs in the German state of Bavaria can now blend in with the Alpine scenery by wearing what their owners wear: short leather pants known as lederhosen. The dogwear looks best on dachshunds, its designer says.
• Man's best friend is now boy's best friend. Kyle Reid, 11, survived a scary night lost on a mountain in Utah with his dog, Athena. The next morning she led Kyle, clad in just shorts and a T-shirt (he'd lost his sandals), five miles to safety. Kyle's stepdad says the dog "deserves special treats every day for the rest of her life." Maybe she would like some lederhosen.
• El Paso, Texas, is the country's sweatiest city, according to a study. In four hours, its residents produce enough sweat to fill an Olympic-size pool.
