Mystics Sign Smith-Taylor

The Washington Mystics signed 6-foot forward Charlotte Smith-Taylor as a free agent yesterday.

A 1995 graduate of the University of North Carolina, Smith-Taylor spent the last six seasons with the Charlotte Sting. She started every game for the Sting in 2004, averaging 28.7 minutes, 8.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.

The Mystics also added Cathy Joens to their training camp roster. Joens, a 5-11 guard, was selected in the third round of the 2004 WNBA draft by the New York Liberty. She played for George Washington and was named Atlantic 10 player of the year in 2003 and 2004. The Mystics' training camp begins April 24.
