BIRTHDAY BASH AND RECORD SMASH. The country's largest Fourth of July party, Philly's Welcome America! celebrates our 228th year of independence with, among other things, an attempt to break the world record for salsa dancers gathered in one place (3,858). Join in the effort, groove to the Isley Brothers, load up on barbecue and screen movies outdoors at city landmarks like the Philadelphia Museum of Art during the weeklong festival ( June 27-July 4). The traditional fife and drums will parade on the Fourth, followed by fireworks.
