Yesterday's snow storm is gone but, as always, not forgotten, as illustrated this morning by a rash of early accidents on slippery roads, and more school closings or delays across the region.

The schools, all of which were either closed or delayed today, face more possible snow Sunday night and Monday morning, according to the latest National Weather Service forecast for the period.

The weekend may offer a respite, with sunny skies and temperatures into the high forties, according to the weather service.

This morning, the main roads were reported clear of snow and well-treated but occasionally slick, especially on overpasses and ramps.

Neighborhood streets and sidewalks were not so well-treated. Some were hazardous and unpredictable as temperatures remained below freezing, according to police around the area.

The number of pre-dawn accidents, particularly spinouts, was considerably higher than normal with at least 20 reported by authorities between 5 a.m. and 6:15 a.m.
