Fort Belvoir Is the County's Largest Employer

More than 23,000 soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Defense Department civilians work at Fort Belvoir and the post's more than 120 tenant commands, making the installation the county's largest employer.

According to Fort Belvoir officials, it is home to one Army major command headquarters and elements of 10 others; 19 agencies and direct reporting units of the Department of the Army; eight elements of the U.S. Army Reserve and the Army National Guard; and 26 Defense Department agencies. The post's mission is to provide logistical and administrative support to the tenant and satellite organizations.
