Records: Wizards 14-9-7, Earthquakes 9-10-11.

Leading Scorers: Wizards F Josh Wolff, 10 goals and 7 assists; Earthquakes F Brian Ching, 12 goals and 4 assists.

Season Series: Even, 1-1-2.

Of Note: Kansas City, finished tied with Columbus for most points in the overall regular season standings, yielded more than two goals in a game only three times. Defending champion San Jose needed a tie in its regular season finale at Dallas to earn the last playoff spot.

Fearless Prediction: Wizards.

LOS ANGELES GALAXY vs. COLORADO RAPIDS

Schedule: Game 1, Oct. 22 at Invesco Field, 9:30; Game 2, Oct. 30 at Home Depot Center, 10.

Records: Galaxy 11-9-10, Rapids 10-9-11.

Leading Scorers: Galaxy F Carlos Ruiz, 11 goals and 2 assists; Rapids F Jean Philippe Peguero, 7 goals and 4 assists.

Season Series: Galaxy won, 1-0-3.

Of Note: Galaxy is 2-3-3 since former U.S. World Cup coach Steve Sampson replaced Sigi Schmid in mid-August. Rapids were by far the lowest-scoring team in MLS with 29 goals, only nine coming in the first half of their games.
