What does your Jan. 20 look like? If you've got "swearing in" scribbled on your day planner along with "Commander in Chief Ball," we've got a proposal: Wear the same dress from the last inauguration (it's the same guy) but buy new baubles.
Instead of a glammy ball gown, invest in a diamond brooch or chandelier earrings. "Something you can wear to every event in the future or even to the office," says jewelry historian Marion Fasel. And you'll always associate that piece of jewelry with the inauguration.

There's a lot out there besides pearl chokers. Young members of the Grand Old Party can bedeck themselves with extravagant charm bracelets, diamond pendants and lots and lots of layering with both necklaces and earrings.
Says Fasel, "An inauguration is a big occasion, so it's an excuse to get good jewelry."
