The Salvation Army of Loudoun County will celebrate the opening of its chapel and worship center from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, 10-C Cardinal Park Dr. SE, Leesburg. 703-771-3371.

Next Sunday's service at the Unitarian Universalists of Sterling is called "The Wilderness . . . Again!" The Passover story -- about people who flee slavery, safety and security for freedom, uncertainty and danger -- will be told.

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Loudoun has invited descendants of people who worshipped in its building when it was Mount Olive Methodist Episcopal Church to a service at 11:15 a.m. next Sunday. UUCL members will speak about the building's history and hang a plaque presented by the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Historic Register. St. Matthew's Episcopal Church will hold a worship service for people and their pets the fourth Sunday of every month, starting at 4 p.m. next Sunday, with Holy Communion for the people and blessings for the animals. St. James United Church of Christ will explore what it means for a church to be "open and affirming" in relation to sexual orientation. Stone Bridge High School student Sabrina Audrey Jess will show a video of her play "Offsides" and discuss bullying in school, especially related to sexuality. 11 a.m. next Sunday, 10 E.
