Boeing Profit Down Sharply

Allstate said fourth-quarter profit rose 50 percent, to $1.14 billion. Revenue rose 7.5 percent, to $8.88 billion.

Duke Energy said fourth-quarter profit was $358 million, compared with a loss of $2.02 billion. Revenue rose 15.2 percent, to $6.05 billion.

CVS, the No. 2 U.S. drugstore chain by sales, said fourth-quarter earnings rose 12 percent, to $295.6 million. Revenue rose 20 percent, to $8.92 billion. For the full year, earnings rose 13 percent, to $959.3 million. Revenue rose 15 percent, to $30.59 billion.

Harrah's Entertainment said fourth-quarter profit more than doubled, to $77 million. Revenue increased 25 percent, to $1.19 billion.

Countrywide Financial, the largest U.S. mortgage lender, said fourth-quarter earnings declined 39 percent, to $343.1 million. Revenue was flat at $1.98 billion. For the full year, earnings declined 2 percent, to $2.32 billion. Revenue rose 10 percent, to $8.76 billion.

Pitney Bowes said fourth-quarter earnings fell 44 percent, to $82.7 million. Revenue rose 12 percent, to $1.36 billion. For the full year, profit fell 4 percent, to $480.5 million. Revenue rose 8 percent, to $4.96 billion.

Northrop Grumman said fourth-quarter earnings rose 31 percent, to $294 million. Sales rose 10 percent, to $7.85 billion. For the full year, earnings rose 28 percent, to $1.11 billion. Sales rose 13 percent, to $29.85 billion.

News Corp. said second-quarter profit rose 80 percent, to $386 million. Sales rose 18 percent, to $6.56 billion.

Anheuser-Busch said fourth-quarter profit rose 13 percent, to $332.5 million. Sales rose 4.7 percent, to $3.37 billion.
