Top 10

F JUSTIN FREISHTAT, River Hill, Sr.

Two-time All-County player set a school record Dec. 10 by tallying eight goals in an 11-7 victory over Atholton. Hawks captain finished the season with 44 goals -- second only to Masiulis in the county -- and 16 assists. Named to MSHL All-Star Team. Plays for Washington Little Caps Junior B team.

Coach of the Year

PATRICK GREEN, Mount Hebron

Mount Hebron went a combined 1-16-3 the two previous seasons, but improved greatly this winter. The Vikings went 4-4-2 to qualify for the playoffs, including three wins in their last four. When a key player went down with a broken leg, Green added team manager (and All County field hockey player) Ashley Francis to the roster. She wound up scoring the game-winning goal that sent the Vikings to the playoffs. Green also coaches the Tri-City Eagles' Pee-Wee team.

First Team

D KYLE BAYNE, Howard, Sr.: An excellent passer with good speed and ice sense, Bayne took an offensive approach to defense, scoring 11 goals and assisting on 15 others. Four-year player was named MSHL All-Star.

F JAN GASPAR, Howard, Sr.: Howard went 8-0-2, made the MSHL semifinals and won the Howard County championship. A big reason why was Gaspar, who had 18 goals and 14 assists. Four-year player was also a MSHL All-Star.

F DANIEL DURANTAYE, Centennial, Soph.: An astute student of the game, Durantaye thrives on knowing an opponent's tendencies and is a tireless worker at practice. Scored 25 goals and had 22 assists.

F JOHN MARKS, Centennial, Sr.: Coach Eric Mauser called the two-time all-county selection and two-year captain the Eagles' "catalyst" this season. The MSHL All-Star scored 20 goals and had 18 assists.

D MIKE DYDYNSKI, Mount Hebron, Sr.: Six-foot-1, 225-pound team captain and two-time all-county pick has one of the hardest shots in the league and plays a physical game. MSHL All-Star scored five goals and had five assists.

F SEAN HARKINS, Atholton, Sr.: Raiders leading scorer and co-captain was named MSHL All-Star. Especially dangerous player on penalty-kill situations. Plays for Tri-City Eagles U-18 Varsity Blue team.

F NEAL RIVERA, Wilde Lake, Fr.: Talented skater and shooter led a combined Wilde Lake/Hammond squad in scoring with 11 goals, 3 assists. Began skating at age 2 and now plays for Montgomery Blue Devils AAA Bantam team.

G ZACH THOMPSON, Long Reach, Jr.: Most pivotal player behind Long Reach's 8-2 season and second straight trip to the playoffs. Was especially dominant in 5-1 playoff victory over Damascus. Had a goals against average of 2.00 and save percentage of .923.
