Still, it doesn't hurt to regularly move around the cabin on long flights.

Please Sir, May I Have Some More?
Earning bonus miles is a favorite activity of a certain obsessed type of flier, but here are two ways to save when redeeming miles:
US Airways is offering a mileage discount of 20 percent if you make your reservation on the airline's Web site (www.usair.com). The discount reduces the mileage needed for a domestic ticket from 25,000 to 20,000, and from 50,000 to 40,000 for an international flight. So far, no notice of when the offer might expire.
American is having a mileage- redemption sale for short flights of 750 miles or less each way, which would take you, for example, from any D.C. area airport to Chicago. Such flights, which usually require 25,000 miles for a frequent-flier ticket, require only 15,000 miles through Feb. 28.
Of course, there's always the problem of finding a free ticket on popular routes. Increase your odds by checking departures from all local airports, playing with departure times and considering alternate destinations.
