Tuesday, April 19, 2005; Page D04

Nuggets F Eduardo Najera broke a bone in his right hand late in last night's loss to the Suns.

The Nuggets said his status for the first-round playoff series against the Spurs would be determined later in the week.

Najera has averaged 5.2 points in 25 games since being acquired in a trade with the Warriors.

• PACER SUSPENDED: Pacers G Anthony Johnson was suspended one game by the NBA for throwing a punch at Heat C Alonzo Mourning.

Johnson threw the punch with 1 minute 41 seconds left in the fourth quarter of the Pacers' 84-80 loss at Miami on Sunday. Johnson was fouled by the Heat G Dwyane Wade, and he and Mourning appeared to collide.

Johnson threw a punch that did not strike Mourning and was apparently unnoticed by referees, since he was not ejected. He was whistled for a technical foul. He served his suspension last night against the Magic.

• LENARD RETURNS: The Nuggets activated G Voshon Lenard, who missed nearly the entire regular season with a torn Achilles' tendon.

The team also put defensive star F-C Marcus Camby on the injured list, though he will be eligible for the playoffs that begin this weekend.

• SMITH IS DONE: The Bucks placed F Joe Smith on the injured list because of a cut on his left pinkie and activated C Daniel Santiago.
