B ritney Spears is suing eight insurance companies -- seven British and one French -- that have refused to pay a $9.8 million claim she filed after injuring her knee during a video shoot last summer. Spears contends the spill forced her to cancel a summer tour insured by the firms. The British companies (the French one hasn't responded) said they rejected the claim because the singer failed to report a preexisting injury (she'd had surgery on the knee less than five years earlier) during a pre-tour medical exam. The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan on Friday, called the lack of disclosure "an innocent omission" . . .
Still riding high on the success of their Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum album "American Idiot," California punks Green Day are launching a five-week tour of North America, starting April 15 in Coral Gables, Fla. Unfortunately, local fans will have to trek to Norfolk's Constant Convocation Center or Pittsburgh's Mellon Arena to catch the trio, as no Washington area dates have been announced . . .
Also touring this spring: British rock group Oasis will hit these shores for the first time in three years, playing a handful of dates in June with Australian rockers Jet. Once again, fans hoping to catch the tour will have to hit the road: The nearest stop is Philadelphia's Penn's Landing on June 25.
