MAY 29: Blessing of the Fleet -- In this annual tradition, local ministers give blessings for a safe and bountiful fishing season. At 4:30 at the Chincoteague Town Dock. Free. 757-336-6861.

JULY 27-28: 80th annual Pony Swim & Auction -- The pony swim takes place in the channel between Chincoteague and Assateague islands July 27 from 7 to 1, followed by carnival, entertainment, food and more.
