In a May 22 story about a fatal house fire in Cleveland, the Associated Press, relying on information from the fire department, misidentified one of the victims. Sheria Carter, 34, was not among the nine people killed in the Saturday morning fire, Assistant Fire Chief David McNeilly said. The ninth victim was Chawntavia Mitchell, 12, whose relationship to the Carter family was not immediately clear.

A quote was incorrectly attributed in a May 22 Outlook article on Newsweek's retraction of its report on the alleged desecration of the Koran as an interrogation tactic at Guantanamo Bay. It was Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman who said, "They cannot retract the damage they have done to this nation or those who were viciously attacked by those false allegations," not White House spokesman Scott McClellan.
