After 14 years, Chuck Conconi , editor-at-large of Washingtonian magazine, is retiring in July, he said yesterday. Conconi, who formerly wrote The Washington Post's "Personalities" column in Style and who runs the magazine's Capital Comments section, says it's time to pursue other things. "Business interests that I just can't talk about yet."

Colleagues are saddened. "He'll be 67 this fall," says the magazine's editor, Jack Limpert . "He just felt it was time to do something else. We're very sorry to see him go."

Conconi told The Post's Lonnae O'Neal Parker that he hasn't had time to think about retirement much. The day was consumed with Mark Felt mania (Conconi points out that in 1974, Washingtonian wrote that Felt was probably Deep Throat) but says he'll miss his colleagues. "You see people, you like them, they're your friends. It's hard to leave people you get to know."

But he'll take one of Washington's fattest Rolodexes with him. And will that help with those unnamed business ventures? Conconi laughs. "A good Rolodex comes in handy no matter what you do."

For Christian Slater, It's a Rap

The turbulent life of actor Christian Slater got another ride on the skids yesterday when he was arrested and charged with groping a woman on a Manhattan street.

Police Detective John Sweeney said Slater, 35, touched the unidentified woman's buttocks in an encounter on the Upper East Side about 1:50 a.m. The woman flagged down police to report the incident, Sweeney said. Slater was found nearby and police said the woman identified him as the groper. Slater, who's appearing on Broadway in "The Glass Menagerie," was charged with third-degree sexual abuse.

Slater was arrested in 1997 after he allegedly bit a man on the stomach and threw a police officer against a wall during a rowdy party in Los Angeles. The actor pleaded no contest and served 90 days in jail.

And Monday, Paris Hilton's spokesman announced (to People mag) that Paris Hilton was marrying Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis!

Yes, surprise! After a whirlwind five-month romance, Latsis, 27, popped the question to Hilton, 24, last Wednesday after she returned from a three-week European publicity tour (new flick, new fragrance). The lovebirds celebrated Saturday with a barbecue for 75 close friends and family members.
