Somali immigrants and refugees turned out Saturday at the Fairland Recreational Park in Burtonsville to learn about services available in Montgomery County during an outreach effort sponsored by the Silver Spring-based Somali American Community Association.

The event also commemorated Somalia's independence from Britain and Italy on July 1, 1960, as well as the U.S. Independence Day holiday.
