Making Maxim's Cut

The third time's the charm: Refusing to accept defeat, a Washington area woman made the top 100 in Maxim's Hometown Hotties contest after being turned down twice.

Lizz Robbins , a conference coordinator from Gaithersburg, outposed 20,000 other hopefuls to move forward in the male-oriented magazine's competition to find the 10 "sexiest women in America."

Robbins, an aspiring actress and sportscaster, told The Post yesterday that she entered the competition to get "great exposure." If she makes the final list, Robbins will have just that: Finalists appear in the magazine clad in underwear or a bikini.

Apparently the 31-year-old's co-workers are behind her campaign. All said they'd vote for her, "and my boss is really supportive," she said.

Last year, Fairfax resident Ursula Mayes earned third place and appeared in the mag in lingerie, clutching a stuffed monkey. This year's top 10 will be announced July 19.

Remember: You Adore Him

TomKat, the movie? In a recent interview with W magazine, Katie Holmes said she wants to make a flick with her couch-jumping, psychiatry-slamming fiance, Tom Cruise . "That would be such an honor," she said. "Such an honor." (No, Katie. Tell us how you really feel.)

The 26-year-old actress will appear on the cover of W's August issue (out July 22) wearing a black-and-gold Marc Jacobs dress. Though no date has been set for the couple's nuptials, "Tom and I will always be in our honeymoon phase," she told W, repeatedly using phrases like "Tom is the most incredible man in the world."

Holmes had her "Scientologist chaperone," Jessica Rodriguez , by her side during the interview. It's uncertain what exactly she does for the "Batman Begins" star, but Rodriguez, who met Holmes less than four months ago, says they're "just best friends." Uh, okay.

Apparently the ever-present escort made herself useful when her charge ran out of ways to describe her new love. "You adore him," she informed the actress, on her feelings for Cruise.

If their movie is anything like their real lives, it's guaranteed to be, well, interesting .

End Notes

· Apparently Britney Spears is going all out to pamper her pregnant body. The 23-year-old entertainer bought a wealth of cosmetics during a recent visit to the Scottsdale, Ariz., luxury boutique Essentials and More. Among her purchases were Bella Mama belly oil -- a high-end massage oil for expectant mothers. Bella Mama spokeswoman Erika McGlone said Spears has bought from the company's entire line. The shop's owner, Larry Kimmel , won't disclose how much she spent on her American Express card because "I want her to come back."

· Actress Diora Baird , who spent last summer on Maryland's Eastern Shore filming "Wedding Crashers," bares her, uh, assets on the August cover of Playboy.

· A woman who made death threats against Catherine Zeta-Jones was given a three-year prison sentence yesterday. Dawnette Knight was charged with stalking the actress with dozens of calls and letters over the course of 18 months. A lawyer for Knight said his client had a "girlish crush" on actor Michael Douglas , Zeta-Jones's husband, and posed no danger to anyone.

· Evangelist Billy Graham's daughter was charged with domestic abuse after three witnesses told police she choked her husband in a parking lot July 1 in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., authorities said. Virginia Graham Foreman , 59, spent a night in jail. A judge who presided over the accused's court appearance said Chad Foreman said witnesses had "just misunderstood what was going on between them."
