Penny Taylor had a season-high 31 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists, leading Phoenix to their fourth straight win, 77-66, over visiting Washington last night.

Alana Beard scored 16 points and DeLisha Milton-Jones added 15 for the Mystics, who have lost two of their last three.

Taylor, 5 of 8 from beyond the three-point line in the Mercury's best individual scoring effort of the season, started a key 7-0 second-half run after Washington tied the game at 55 with 9 minutes 37 seconds left.

Taylor stole the ball and was headed for a layup when she was flagrantly fouled by Beard. After making two free throws, Taylor hit her sixth three-pointer of the night and Phoenix (7-11) held off Washington (9-9). The Mystics never got closer than three.

Maria Stepanova had 17 points and Anna DeForge scored 16 for Phoenix.

· LYNX 64, LIBERTY 60: Katie Smith made two free throws with 6.2 seconds left and visiting Minnesota withstood New York's late run.

· SUN 70, COMETS 66: Nykesha Sales had 22 points and Taj McWilliams-Franklin pulled down two key rebounds to lift Connecticut at home.

· FEVER 62, SHOCK 57: Tamika Catchings had 20 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists to lead host Indiana.
