SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Yolanda Griffith and Nicole Powell each scored 17 points, helping the Sacramento Monarchs pull away in the second half and beat the Washington Mystics 73-59 Saturday night.

The Western Conference-leading Monarchs (13-5) won their second straight and fourth in five games. They improved to 7-1 at home and completed a season-series sweep of the Mytics.

Alana Beard had 15 points and Charlotte Smith-Taylor had 13 for Washington (9-10), which has lost two straight and three of four. Beard had just five points in the second half and Smith-Taylor was scoreless.

The Monarchs broke up a close game with a 13-2 run that started with Powell's 3-pointer for a 49-44 lead with 12:37 remaining. The spurt put the Monarchs ahead 59-46 with 7:27 left.

Griffith, ejected early in Thursday's game against San Antonio, made 7-of-8 shots and 3-of-4 free throws against the Mystics. DeMya Walker, who had 24 points in an earlier win over Washington, had 12 points this time.

The Mystics, who led 35-34 at the break, were playing their third game in four nights, while well-rested Sacramento was playing for only the second time in 13 days.
