Two July 20 articles on John G. Roberts Jr., the federal appellate judge nominated to the Supreme Court by President Bush, said Roberts is a member of the Federalist Society. The White House says Roberts does not recall ever being a member.

A July 20 Metro article implied that the Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services should have been checking development site plans. The department does not have the authority to check site plans. Under current rules, only the county Planning Board has the authority to do so.

A photo caption with a July 17 article on a revolt in rural Egypt incorrectly identified the region where the uprising took place. It occurred in the Nile River delta, not the Niger River delta.
