An occasional look at products the travel industry insists we need.

WHAT: Infant Cabana from One Step Ahead

AIMED AT: Beach or backyard-bound babies hoping to avoid a sunburn.

HOW MUCH: $24.95

BUT DOES IT WORK? Not a beam of sunlight will penetrate this well-protected infant cabana (infant cabana boy comes separately) that will keep your little one protected from those nasty UV rays. Despite the mini-tent's zip-up front entrance and small netted window in back, it may provide a bit too much coverage for nervous parents who always like to have one eye on Junior. Although the cabana comes in a convenient carry case that is the size of a big Frisbee -- unzip it and it pops right out -- we had trouble folding it back into its case on a recent pool outing. We eventually ignored the awkward illustrated instructions and relied on a handy pool pal to finally get the genie back in the bottle.
