Sept. 9

Touching the Heart of Every Neighborhood, Unity Health Care's 20th Anniversary benefit gala, is at the Hilton Washington. The organization serves uninsured and underinsured District of Columbia residents. Master of ceremonies: Washington Post columnist Courtland Milloy. The Jesse B. Barber Jr. Community Health Care Award and the Janelle Goetcheus Medically Underserved Advocacy Awards will be presented. Remarks by Christine Brennan, USA Today sports columnist and author. Wine, Women and Song, a benefit for the Strathmore Arts Education and Community Program Fund, is at the Music Center at Strathmore and offers food and wine-tasting. Board one of three spectator boats to watch Hospice Cup XXIV, a regatta on the Chesapeake Bay that benefits area hospices, and enjoy a shore party afterward at Manresa on the Severn River.
