Drew Dudzik is a lot more sore after Centreville's first two games this season than he was any time last year. So it goes with the Wildcats' new single-wing offense, which has the senior quarterback also serving as the running back.
Dudzik rushed 10 times for 103 yards and two touchdowns in a 56-14 victory over Hayfield on Friday. In helping No. 9 Centreville to a 2-0 start, he has rushed for 207 yards--just two yards shy of his 11-game total last season--and five touchdowns. He has also completed 18 of 23 passes for 433 yards and five touchdowns.
Dudzik often lines up in the shotgun formation with four or five wide receivers. With the defense spread out, Dudzik can either run or pass.
"We ran this in '99 and 2000 and won a lot of games, won a state championship [in 2000]," Coach Mike Skinner said.
