AAA Northwestern
Osbourn at Woodbridge
Tonight, 6:30
With a win over the Vikings (3-1), Osbourn (4-0) could assure itself of at least a .500 season for the first time since 1997. The Eagles have a combined 114 points the past three games; senior Ryan Anderson rushed for four touchdowns last week. The Woodbridge defense, which returned one starter (senior LB Zack Weatherington), has given up only one touchdown the past three outings.
AA Northwestern
Handley at Sherando
Tonight, 7
Outlook: Sherando's defense held Warren County standout H.B. Banjoman (980 yards, 14 TDs) to a season-low 136 yards rushing in last week's 21-19 victory. Now it must find a way to slow versatile sophomore QB J.J. Dorsey, an equal threat to run or pass for Handley (3-1, 1-0). The Warriors (3-1, 1-0) are less flashy but similarly balanced on offense behind QB Ross Netheny (471 yards passing) and TB Joe Oher (576 yards rushing).
AAA Commonwealth
Colonial Forge at Massaponax
Tonight, 7:30
Outlook: Colonial Forge, which has allowed just 13 points and has had two shutouts in four games this year, will probably give a potent Massaponax offense its toughest district challenge this year. DB Kori Kelley had three interceptions for Colonial Forge (4-0, 1-0) in a 36-0 win over Mountain View last week. RB Byron Allen has nine touchdowns in the past three games for Massaponax (5-0, 1-0), spearheading an option attack that is averaging 36.8 points per game.
AAA Concorde
Herndon at No. 8 Westfield
Tonight, 7:30
Outlook: Herndon (3-1, 0-1) has its second consecutive Concorde District game against an opponent ranked in the top 20. The Hornets suffered a 21-14 loss to top-ranked Robinson on a touchdown run with two minutes remaining in the game last Friday. Herndon faces another top running back in Bulldogs (5-0, 1-0) senior Evan Royster who has amassed 1,176 yards on 89 carries for 15 touchdowns. Hornets QB Zay Lopez has completed 26 of 51 passes for 446 yards and seven touchdowns.
No. 12 Centreville at No. 15 Oakton
Tonight, 7:30
Outlook: After losing in the final minutes at home to No. 8 Westfield last week, and with idle No. 1 Robinson looming next week, this is arguably a must-win for the Wildcats (4-1, 0-1). Centreville hasn't scored fewer than 31 points in a game this season, but Oakton (4-0, 1-0) hasn't given up more than 16.
