You may be off school tomorrow to mark Columbus Day (check out "This Week in History"). Why not celebrate the most famous "Coming to America" with activities that celebrate the "coming to America" of millions of immigrant families?

The National Archives is hosting fun family activities from noon to 4 p.m. Make a map showing where everyone in your family lives, trace your family tree, design a quilt square that tells your family's story, even see and keep a sample of your own DNA!

There also will be a presentation, called "Destination: America," showing what it was like for immigrants to come to American between 1900 and 1920. Photographs of immigrant families from that era will be on display.

All the events are free. The National Archives Building is on Constitution Avenue between Seventh and Ninth streets NW. For information, call 202-501-5000 or go to http://www.archives.gov/calendar .
