It will be an interesting Friday night for the Beitzell family. Scott is a senior offensive lineman-linebacker at Stonewall Jackson , which hosts a Battlefield team that includes brother Patrick, a junior running back-linebacker. The inaugural varsity game between the neighboring schools is being billed as "The First Annual Battle of Bull Run." The winning school will keep a trophy for the year and receive gift certificates to the restaurant sponsoring the game. . . .

Manassas Park will go for its 30th consecutive regular season win at home tonight against Strasburg in the schools' Virginia A Bull Run District opener. After the game, a fireworks display will help mark the City of Manassas Park's 30th anniversary. . . .

Dominion (2-3) opens its third season of AA Dulles District play tomorrow against Loudoun County (2-3) still seeking its first district win in school history. The Titans enter on a two-game win streak, having benefited from switching from a spread formation to a tighter, double-wing set three games ago. In the first two games, Dominion senior RB Tony Armenteros totaled just 36 yards on five carries. Since the change, Armenteros has rushed for a combined 395 yards and seven touchdowns.
