8. EL NOPAL A large Latino grocery with a good produce section and extensive selection of dried peppers and herbs. A second room has western clothing and cowboy boots from Mexico.

9. FOOD FOR THOUGHT This small, European-style market sells organic and naturally raised bison, beef, pork, goat, lamb and chicken as well as eggs and dairy products from nearby farms. Order fresh pheasant, quail, duck, rabbit, quinea fowl and goose three to four days in advance.

10. FOTI'S A smart, yet casual, fine dining restaurant with an American regional menu and Mediterranean influence (entrees $14 to $33), run by former staff members of the Inn at Little Washington.

11. FRENCHMAN'S CORNER A European-style gourmet shop for Belgian chocolates, imported cheeses as well as high-quality kitchen gadgets and knives. Fresh breads are made by the pastry chef at nearby Foti's restaurant.

12. FROST CAFE A spacious, 1950s modern diner, with a 30-stool counter, specializing in all-American breakfast fare and old-fashioned soda fountain shakes and ice cream sundaes.
