Commissioner of Baseball Bud Selig is meeting this week with at least two of the remaining bidders among the eight groups that are trying to buy the Nationals.

Chicago businessman Yusef Jackson , who has partnered with grocery store billionaire Ronald Burkle , met with Selig in Milwaukee yesterday.

"We are very happy for the opportunity to meet with Mr. Selig," Jackson said before the meeting. "We believe we have a strong team and should be considered a formidable bidder."

Selig also is expected to meet with former Atlanta sports executive Stan Kasten , in the next few days. Kasten is said to be in talks to join forces with Washington area developer Ted Lerner , whose family is among the front-runners to buy the team.
