Peres Quits Labor, Endorses Sharon

JERUSALEM, Nov. 30 -- Shimon Peres quit the Labor Party on Wednesday and endorsed his old political rival, Ariel Sharon, for reelection next spring. But Peres stopped short of joining the prime minister's nascent centrist movement.
