Fatal Shooting Prince George's police found a man fatally shot in an apartment in Oxon Hill yesterday afternoon.
The man, identified last night as Anthony L. Brown II, 22, was found at 12:50 p.m. in the 1100 block of Kennebec Street, police said.
Detectives do not have a motive or a suspect. Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call the homicide unit at 301-772-4925.
THE DISTRICTVictim Identified Police have identified a woman found shot to death early Tuesday in Southeast Washington as Lakesha Parker, 33.
Parker, of the 4600 block of East Capitol Street SE, was discovered shot in the head about 7 a.m. on a playground at J.C. Nalle Elementary School in the 200 block of 50th Street SE.
Anyone with information about her killing is asked to call police at 202-727-9099.
VIRGINIAWeapons at School A 15-year-old student at South Lakes High School was arrested on school grounds yesterday after police found that he was carrying a BB gun and two knives. No one was threatened or harmed with the weapons, Fairfax County police said.
School administrators alerted police about 9:15 a.m. after hearing that a student had a gun. Police isolated the student, took him into custody and found the gun and knives while searching him, Fairfax police said.
The boy was charged with three counts of carrying a concealed weapon on school property.
South Lakes Principal Bruce Butler e-mailed a letter to South Lakes parents yesterday informing them of the incident.
Violence Recalled A Fairfax County woman yesterday described being terrorized by her former boyfriend inside her townhouse in the Fair Lakes area last month.
After she tried to escape him, she said, the ex-boyfriend shot and stabbed her and apparently fatally shot another man.
Anthony Lee Burdis, 38, is charged with murder in the killing of John M. Shirley, 53, of the Falls Church area.
Shirley returned with Mallori Scott, 37, to her residence on Fair Crest Court on the night of Nov. 3, and they were confronted by Burdis, Scott testified at a preliminary hearing yesterday. Scott said Burdis hit her and Shirley in the face with a handgun. She later fled upstairs and heard three gunshots while she hid in her bathroom.
Shirley was pronounced dead at the scene. Scott said Burdis came to the bathroom and shot her, grazing her in the head. Later, Scott said, Burdis returned and stabbed her once in the neck. Burdis fled on foot and was arrested 45 minutes later.
Fairfax General District Court Judge Donald P. McDonough sent Burdis's case to the Fairfax grand jury for possible indictment.
