I am irate about New York City's plan to monitor diabetics' test results in an effort to encourage patients to control their disease better [news story, Jan. 11]. The city may even intervene in cases in which health officials think the patients need better care.
I have been a diabetic since 1992 and have been on insulin since 2000. Knowing that a local official could get my A1c test results directly from a medical lab would make me feel worse. A local government is spending taxpayer money to gather information that should remain between patients and their health care providers.
